Also this winter I have been to The Gambia.
For the first time there would be 2 Frosch groups, which I would accompany as a yoga teacher and travel guide. There were plenty of bookings, so it could happen. It was, of course, very exciting. Is everything going as planned? How do guests experience the country and the program?
But in short: it was a great success!
The guests all fell in love with the country and its people. The yoga classes were highly appreciated and the program with various trips was followed with great pleasure.

But…good preparation is half the battle. Of course, I had already made a lot of contacts last year and drew up the program. This year I was already in The Gambia 10 days before the Frosch guests were due to arrive and I was able to put the finishing touch on the program. After all, there were a number of trips in the program that I had never visited myself.

I now had time for that and also to meet all my contacts in person and discuss the plans.
And thanks to excellent cooperation with all those involved, things went smoothly.
Everyone was satisfied: the guests, my contacts, the employees and the owner of the lodge where we stayed. And of course also myself and the management of Frosch Sportreisen. And this means that the trips probably will take place again next year, but with 3 groups. I’m already looking forward to it.
Because The Gambia also has me in its grip: it feels familiar as my 2nd (or 3rd?) home.
The Gambia is called the “smiling coast of Africa”: the inhabitants are always friendly and have a smile on their face. Really to be happy about. I enjoyed it…

In addition to the (preparation of) Frosch trips, I spent a day with the children and the mother of my boyfriend. I also visited Sotokoi, his home village. People were busy harvesting on the rice field. I was there too and actually wanted to help, but this is hard work. I can’t get it done. The water is above your ankles and your feet sink into the mud, so you can hardly move a step. Real respect for the people who do this on a daily basis.
In addition, I visited the school and saw the school desks, which we were able to purchase over the past year with the help of donations. Soon we will have the possibility to complete the number of school desks for three classrooms. But then there is much more work to be done. The fourth classroom is under construction, but has yet to be finished. In addition, we haven’t even started building a fifth or sixth classroom. Toilets and water supply is also a wish. Any donation is therefore still very welcome!
