In February next year, Daisy will be 7 years old.
When she was about 4 months old, she wandered the streets and was found by one of my Frosch guests at the hotel. Everyone immediately fell in love with her and asked me why I didn’t take her in.
I hesitated, because I had never had a dog in my life. I’m a cat person. But when I heard the next day that she was going to be taken to the shelter, I couldn’t bring myself to do so. (There are 3 dog shelters and 1 cat shelter on Samos and they are all overcrowded.)
Very spontaneously I decided that they could bring the dog to my home. At that time I was still busy with a last yoga/hiking week, so I couldn’t spend that much time with her. Also, 2 days later it looked like she had run away, but after a few minutes she came back to my house and never left again.
And since that day, we have been a close-knit team. I take her everywhere, on the scooter. She really enjoys that. During the yoga classes I give at the surf centre in Kokkari, she relaxes and waits for me to finish. And then back home on the scooter. She sits between my legs and looks “around the corner” to see where we’re going. The ears and hair flutter in the wind.
She doesn’t like water, so together swimming in the sea is not an option. And sometimes I have to carry her across the river… But she loves the beach.
She also joins Frosch on the walks. She has covered a lot of kilometres in the 6.5 years that we have been together. I hope that the two of us can continue to walk together for many years to come. And even though she sometimes has her own will, I wouldn’t want to miss her for the world. By the way, I also have 2 cats. I’m still a cat person, but now I’m also a Daisy person…
Daisy has her own photo album “in the cloud”.
