10 years ago (November 2014) I was in India for my Yoga Teacher Training. An unforgettable experience, which has brought me completely into Yoga.
Of course, I had already started Yoga for myself. That was in June 2012 when I was at home with a burnout.
I was always very sporty. 3 times a week I went to the gym for Zumba, Spinning or Bodypump or something like that. But during the burnout, I didn’t have the energy for it anymore. I mentioned this once in the locker room. A woman responded to this and gave me the tip to go to yoga. And that tip really hit home. Yes, I had to do that!
And I am still grateful to this woman. I followed her advice and knew immediately from the first time I did yoga: this is it for me!
It felt like coming home. At home in my body. At home in my mind.
And it still feels that way. Every day I’m on the mat. In the beginning, I had to have the discipline to do that. Now I find myself on the mat before I can even think about it. It’s part of my life.
When I’m tired or stressed, it’s better to do some yoga exercises than to hang out on the couch.
Yoga gives me inner peace and physical energy at that moment.
And I am grateful that I have been able to share this with many people with my many yoga classes (live on Samos but also online).
Namasté!

P.s. A meditation that helped me to ground myself during the burnout (to get out of my head into my body) I will share with you next time.
