Bizarre tijden

“We will not go back to normal. Normal never was. Our pre-corona existence was not normal other than we normalized greed, inequity, exhaustion, depletion, extraction, disconnection, confusion, rage, hoarding, hate and lack.

We should not long to return, my friends. We are being given the opportunity to stitch a new garment. One that fits all of humanity and nature.”

Vrij vertaald:

Aanmelden via contact@marjaani.nl.

English version:

These are bizarre times.

What is happening in the world is so great and complicated that probably no one can control it anymore. I certainly don’t.

Is it “just” an ordinary flu virus or a treacherous violation of our health (care)? What is the reason that almost the whole world is standing still? Fear of illness, fear of death? Why now, and not with previous virus outbreaks such as Ebola or Sars?

Many questions, but there are no clear answers. One question provides several different answers, because everyone tries to find an explanation that is acceptable to himself.

Each individual illness or death case is a personal drama, but the measures themselves also result in many personal dramas. Loneliness among the elderly; mental, social and economic problems; difficulties in education. Too many to mention.

Yet I try to look at the other side too: less air and sea pollution; solidarity, togetherness and creativity; the peace, quiet and time for yourself.

Do we really want to go back to the “old world”? On Facebook I came across the following quote:

“We will not go back to normal. Normal never was. Our pre-corona existence was not normal other than we normalized greed, inequity, exhaustion, depletion, extraction, disconnection, confusion, rage, hoarding, hate and lack.

We should not long to return, my friends. We are being given the opportunity to stitch a new garment. One that fits all of humanity and nature.”

I could not say it better. And maybe we will not change immediately, but more people will think that things have to go in a different way. Structural changes can be initiated. In that regard, we can embrace these (and other) crises. In this way I would like to look at the current situation. And contribute as much as possible.

My own modest world is also turned upside down. If there are no tourists, it will be a big challenge for me to survive on Samos. But it is precisely during this time of crisis that I have something to offer to people, so that we can work together for a better future.

The first steps are awareness and trust in your inner strength. For me this is equivalent to doing yoga, qi gong and mindfulness. I would like to share this with others.

That is why I now also offer my lessons and courses online via Zoom, so that I can “infect” more people with the positivity virus. This is my offer:

-Hatha Yoga  English spoken, on request via contact@marjaani.nl. Based on donation.

-Course Qi Gong of 6 weekly lessons. Through slow, relaxed and conscious movements you increase the capacity for internal harmony and balance. Your body becomes soft and thoroughly practiced, your emotions are calmed and your mind is brought into a peaceful state of wholeness.

On request via contact@marjaani.nl.

-Course Mindfulness of 6 weeks. Mindfulness is a method that teaches you to deal in an accepting waywith everything that presents itself in everyday life.To do this, you will have to practice. It is about practicing perception, paying attention, not judging, accepting. You do this by performing all kinds of seated and moving meditation exercises: sitting meditations, walking meditations, breath focus, yoga, qi gong and the body scan.

On request via contact@marjaani.nl.

You can find a preview of a Hatha Yoga class in the video. The Egyptian sun salutation can help calm your mind, deepen your breathing and feeling more energized.
